Alex Askew is running for the House of Delegates

Last week, I announced my candidacy for HD-95 to again represent my hometown, the community that raised me.

We’re building this renewed movement on a strong foundation of delivering for Virginia Beach & Norfolk — & I want to take a moment to talk about why that’s important.

One of the reasons I ran in 2019 to represent Virginia Beach in the state legislature was to stand up for the issues that matter most: access to affordable healthcare, quality education, economic opportunities, and a safe environment for all of us.

During my first term, my office prioritized passing laws that would protect our kids, bring jobs to this area, & make high-quality and affordable health care accessible for more Virginians. We addressed issues brought to us directly from our constituents and worked around the clock to change our Commonwealth for the better. During the 2021 legislative session, 14 of my own bills were signed into law, 11 of which received bipartisan support. Each of these new laws has directly helped lift up the most vulnerable Virginians.

But we knew then what we know now: our work is just getting started. I’m the only candidate in this race with a track record of providing real solutions to some of the most intractable issues of our lifetime — and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next, together.

The sky’s the limit in terms of what we’re going to accomplish this year, friends.

You’ll hear more from my team soon about the movement we’re constructing to build a better Virginia Beach. But we can’t do it alone. Will you join us?
